Mali defeated Tunisia 2-1 on Sunday at the Kigali Regional Stadium in Nyamirambo to book a semifinal date with Ivory Coast on Wednesday.
Tunisia surprised Mali with their passing game in the final third and it was not long before Mohamed Ali Monser headed home Saad Bguir’s cross from the left for the opener.
Mali were matching Tunisia in every aspect of the game but couldn’t break down the latter’s disciplined defense, especially in the first half though it was a different story in the second.
Aliou Deng and Abdoulaye Diarra scored two second half goals to send the 2011 winners packing.
