Mutuma and Chinyama handed PSL bans

The Premier Soccer League has handed Dynamos pair of Rodreck Mutuma and Takesure Chinyama three match bans for their actions during the Chibuku Super Cup final last year.

Dynamos lost the match to Harare City and after the final whistle both players charged towards the referee and had to be restrained by marshals and the police.

Both Mutuma and Chinyama were subsequently fined $1000 and handed four match bans a decision that infuriated the Dynamos executive.

Dynamos appealed the ban and at one stage threatened not to fulfil a Netone semi-final clash with Highlanders . After talks with the PSL the players were allowed to participate in the game that Dynamos later lost.

Now the PSL has revealed that  the punishment was lessened to 3 games instead of 4 after the appeal .

The players are banned from participating in three PSL sanctioned matches with effect from the 18th of January.

Chinyama and Mutuma have been found guilty of contravening Article 31.2.9 which reads :assaults threatens, intimidates, coerces, inters or misleads or insults a match official, player, official of the league, public ,press or media or any other person .

In addition both players will pay 50% of the cost of the disciplinary and appeal hearing and will not be allowed to play in any PSL sanctioned match until the payment has been made.
