Chinyama considered for coaching role at Dynamos

Dynamos are reportedly considering a coaching role for their injured striker Takesure Chinyama ahead of the new season set to begin in a fortnight.

Chinyama has already asked for a transfer from the club following his exclusion in the 26 men squad and rival clubs Highlanders and Caps United are considering a swop at the player.

However a twist has emerged, The Herald reports that Dynamos wants to use Chinyama’s vast experience and name him player/assistant coach responsible for training strikers.

Takesure Chinyama made history as the first non-European player to win the Golden Boot in the Ekstraklasa in May 2009.

He played his first season at Lech Poznan, after top-scoring in the Polish Third and Second Divisions with Znicz Pruszkow, and scored 14 goals in an impressive spell for one cutting his milk teeth with the big boys of the Premiership.

His tally was five goals fewer than Chinyama’s haul of 19, which gave the then Legia Warsaw forward the Golden Boot that he shared with Pawel Brozek of Wisla Krakow, who topped a good season by also being voted as the Polish Player of the Year.

It is that experience that the Dynamos leadership feel can be used to sharpen the misfiring strikers.

Dynamos President Kenny Mubaiwa confirmed the latest developments to the Herald.

“Takesure has played the game at the highest level and scoring goals in Europe. So we feel he has something to offer if he can stay on as player/assistant coach helping our strikers with the technique and skill he possess.

“That is why we want him to end his career at Dynamos and with that in mind it’s only wise to introduce him to the coaching duties whilst playing out the remainder of his career,” said Mubaiwa.
