Pasuwa not taking Swaziland lightly

National team coach Callisto Pasuwa has refused to underrate Swaziland ahead of a crunch AFCON 2017 qualifier tie.

The Warriors will take on Swaziland back to back on Good Friday in Mbabane before the return leg set for Easter Monday in Harare.

Both teams are joint leaders in their group that also features Guinea and Malawi.

Despite having more players playing in playing in professional leagues, Pasuwa says his charges must not underestimate Isihlangu but must respect them.

Monday’s training had mostly locally based Warriors and a few other South African based players.

Pasuwa told the Herald“In this competition there are no points that will come on a silver platter. We have to fight very hard for every point let alone three points and I think the biggest challenge we have is to get these players to respect Swaziland and not under-estimate them.

“Yes, they might not have many players who play in professional leagues, but we need to understand that unlike most teams on the continent, Swaziland operate more like a club in that their team is always together and they have been together for a long time.

“We only get to meet for two or three days of full training at most and in such situations we have to rely on such things like tactics, conditioning, technique and fighting spirit and also work on our cohesion.”, added Pasuwa.

Pasuwa also lamented on the fact that Swaziland play as a unit since they get to spend more as a time unlike his charges who meet for 3 – 4 days ahead of matches.

More players are expected in the country before the end of day today.
