Striker blow for Highlanders ahead of season start

Bulawayo football giants , Highlanders, have been dealt a last minute blow amid revelations by the club’s chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede that Harare based ZRP FC have asked them to release their striker Kasimero Chimbadzwa.

Chimbadzwa,a police officer who was based in Harare, had been given a go ahead to join Bosso on season’s loan.

A letter addressed to Bosso by ZRP FC secretary general Thomas Mangwiro read : “May you please be advised that your offer of $1 500 has not been accepted. ZRP FC requires you to raise your offer to $3 000 of which you have to pay something upfront before a clearance is issued. If you cannot meet the above may you release the player to ZRP FC.”

Gumede was quick to say: “This has been a big blow for us right on the last day of registration of players. ZRP FC had initially agreed to release the player on a one year loan with a transfer fee of $1 500. It has been a last minute let down from ZRP. I had a discussion with guy (Mangwiro). I told them they have put us in a fix and I had to quote a few paragraphs from Fifa regulation books.”

Chimbadzwa was looking set to partner either Knox Mutizwa or Ralph Matema in attack and from the look of things Bosso will not further pursue the policeman’s signature.

Meanwhile, Bosso have released Zambian goalkeeper Sitali Nyambwe to PSL newcomers Border Strikers.

Nyambwe had signed a one year deal with Bulawayo giants before their deal went sour.

“As an executive we have agreed to release Sitali to Border strikers.  Only what will need as our monetary compensation for his upkeep. It’s a small figure. We had liked the young boy but he appeared to be dishonest. I personally gave him some money and Gumede also did so,” said Bosso vice chairman Morgan Sikhuthele Ngwenya.
