Warriors thrash Seychelles but knocked out of Cosafa

The Zimbabwe national team hammered Seychelles 5-0 in the Cosafa Cup to register their first win in the 2016 edition of the tournament.

However it was too little too late for the Warriors after Swaziland edged Madagascar 1-0 in the other Group A match thus topping the group.

The Warriors piled on the pressure from the onset with Mashumba and Tarumbwa getting early chances but had to wait until the 23rd  minute to go in front courtesy of a Ronald Pfumbidzai penalty.

From there it was one way traffic as Zimbabwe soon added a second with the lively Marshall Mudehwe heading in the 37th minute.

Halftime came with the Warriors in control but needing three more goals in the second half to stand a chance of proceeding to the next stage. The goals did come with Lawrence Mhlanga scoring a brace while Teenage Hadebe scored as well.

However it all ended up being in vain with Swaziland inform striker Felix Badenhorst scoring against Madagascar to put his through to the quarterfinals.

In the end the Warriors first two performance came back to haunt them and will now be heading back home at the first stage for the second consecutive year.
