We needed to silence Bosso fans: Gumbo

Chicken Inn ensured that they continue with their dominance over Highlanders with a 2 nil victory over their city rivals yesterday.

Rahman Gumbo who is in charge of Chicken Inn and is certainly no stranger at Highlanders alluded the victory to getting tactics right. Gumbo speaking to the chronicle after the match said he needed to silence Bosso supporters in order to gain advantage.

Barbourfields Stadium can be a very hostile place if the Bosso fans are on song as they can be the driving force. Chicken Inn dominated the game by making sure they maintained possession which tended to frustrate the Bosso faithfuls.

“Our strategy was simple; to silence their 12th player. We knew that if we eliminate supporters, they become an ordinary side. We silenced their supporters by maintaining possession and forcing them to look for the ball. However, it was a tight game, but we had a bit of an edge player for player. I think my players were also tactically and technically superior,” Gumbo said.

His opposite number Erol Akbay was disappointed man and sai they need to quickly forget about the game and focus on the next.

“It wasn’t our day. It was very bad football from us, but I must say we missed the 12th man because when you’re playing badly sometimes you need supporters and we missed them. Today we failed as a team and we’ve to forget this day and move on,” he said.
