Mighty Warriors AWCON preps in disarray

The Mighty Warriors preparations for the upcoming African Women Cup of Nations appear to be in disarray less than a month before the tournament is supposed to start.

Zimbabwe is in Group A alongside Cameroon, Egypt and South Africa. While their opponents are fine tuning preparations the Mighty Warriors are yet to even get into camp something that has concerned head coach Shadreck Mlauzi.

At the weekend South Africa hosted Egypt in an international friendly while Cameroon played Kenya as part of their preparations for the AWCON which kicks off on the 19th of November.

Mlauzi says he had hoped for the squad to be in camp the whole of October but was waiting for ZIFA whose financial woes have seemingly see the Mighty Warriors neglected despite their exploits in recent this year.

Zimbabwe are now a force to reckon with on the continent on the women’s football scene and together with South Africa represented Africa at the Olympics.

However just like the for the Olympics the Mighty Warriors are set to head into a tournament ill-prepared.
