Chapungu unfazed by relegation threats

Chapungu chief executive officer Chris-Levine Mukotekwa has said the premiership outfit wishes to fulfill its remaining games without being worried about the boardroom politicking pitting football mother body

Zifa and its affiliate PSL on the number of clubs to be promoted and relegated.

The PSL backtracked on its earlier resolution at the beginning of the season when it announced that it would relegate two teams and promote the same number of clubs in the topflight league after pressure from regions who want each club from the four regions promoted.

The latest schisms between Zifa and PSL has thrown Chapungu who are fourth from bottom with 31 points in the relegation mix and would pray that either Hwange or How Mine lose their remaining matches and they win their games to remain in the topflight league.

However, Mukotekwa said he hopes that Zifa and PSL would find each other in the interest of football.

“As a club we want to play all our remaining fixtures and the issue that you are asking me about I am not in a position to comment because we are also hearing it from the press and we do not have official communication from PSL.

Therefore as Chapungu we know that only two teams will be relegated at the end of the season, a resolution which was agreed by all the clubs in the PSL,” HE SAID.

However,  the Chapungu chief executive officer was quick to point out that Zifa and PSL to find common ground in the interest of football.
