FIFA hands life ban to former ZIFA official

FIFA has handed a life time ban from all football activity to former ZIFA official Jonathan Musavengana.

Former president of the South African Football Asscoation Nematandani, Mr Banna Tchanile, former coach of the Togo national team were handed bans as well.

According to FIFA their bans are related to match fixing international friendly matches played in South Africa in 2010, as well as to cases decided by the adjudicatory chamber in October 2015 and March 2016.

Musavengana worked as Zifa programmes officer in 2010 and was also implicated in the infamous Asia-gate scandal.

A statement from FIFA read :

Mr Nematandani was found guilty of having violated art. 13 (General rules of conduct), art. 15 (Loyalty) and art. 18 (Duty of disclosure, cooperation and reporting) of the FIFA Code of Ethics (FCE) and was sanctioned with a ban from taking part in any football-related activities for five years. Furthermore, the adjudicatory chamber decided that Mr Musavengana and Mr Tchanile had both infringed art. 13 and art. 21 (Bribery and corruption) of the FCE and imposed a life ban on the two former officials.

The bans are effective as of 8 December 2016.
