Pasuwa forced to use locally based Warriors for Ivory Coast friendly

The Warriors friendly against Ivory Coast will not feature most players announced in the provisional squad for AFCON 2017.

Instead a second string Warriors squad will head to the Abidjan for the friendly international set for the 26 of December. Tinotenda Kadewere is the only player foreign based player in the squad.

Most of the foreign based players will not be available for the match that was meant to help the Warriors prepare for AFCON 2017. European based players such as Knowledge Musona, Costa Nhamoinesu will not have been released by their clubs in time for the friendly while the SA based contingent still has matches this week and will be free after the 22nd.

The situation has forced the technical team to choose mostly locally based players with Tintotenda Kadewere the only foreign based player in the squad.

Warriors head coach Callisto Pasuwa is understood to have questioned the logic behind the match but ZIFA has insisted the match should go ahead.
