Khama Billiat off to Nigeria

Khama Billiat is off to Nigeria for the Glo CAF awards ceremony set for Thursday and has been excused from the Warriors camp.

Billiat is the running for the CAF Player of the Year based in Africa where he is one of three nominees for the award together with fellow Sundowns teammate Dennis Onyango and Zambian international Rainford Kalaba.

Billiat joined the Warriors a few days ago after being given some time off by the technical team but attracted controversy while outside camp.

However Billiat looked sharp and at his best at yesterday morning training session as preparations continued with at Gateway High school.

Billiat is a hot favourite for the award as he played a key role in Mamelodi Sundowns CAF Champions League triumph as well as clinching the ABSA Premiership.

Billiat won the ABSA Premiership Footballer of the Year and was a key figure as the Warriors qualified for AFCON 2017.

The African Player of the Year will also be crowned at the event with Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez, Gabon’s PierreEmerick Aubameyang and Senegalese Sadio Mane nominees for the prestigious award.
