Premier Soccer League will have 18 teams says ZIFA

ZIFA has made a ruling regarding the PSL relegation issue after an extraordinary meeting that took place today.

ZIFA and PSL have had an impasse on the number of teams to be relegated and other issues that include the suspension of Premier Soccer league chairman Peter.

According to Zifa the PSL will only relegate two teams and promote four teams meaning the league will have 18 teams in 2017.

However it remains to be seen whether the PSL will accept the ruling after it filed the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

A statement from Zifa read:

Zimbabwe Football Association assembly members held an Extra-Ordinary General Meeting on 7 January 2017 in Harare where they unanimously agreed that TWO (2) teams will be relegated from the Premier Soccer League for the season which ended in November 2016 while FOUR (4) teams will be promoted from the regional leagues to play in the 2017 PSL season.

The congress also agreed that there shall be an amendment to article 21 of the ZIFA constitution which deals with the number of delegates who constitute the ZIFA assembly since the resolution made at the meeting automatically increases the number of delegates from 62 to 64.
