Senegal vs. Zimbabwe: Warriors Player Ratings

The warriors lost 2-0 to Senegal in their AFCON 2017 second group B tie at Stade de Franceville on Thursday.

Soccer24 runs its rule on the individual player ratings:

Zimbabwe

Tatenda Mukuruva 6.5 – The Zimbabwe number one made vital saves and single handedly avoided a catastrophic defeat for the warriors.

Hardlife Zvirekwi 5.5 – The Caps United fullback had flashes of brilliance, but took time to settle and coordinate with the rest of defence. Also had a torrid time catching up with Baye Moussa Keita and put the goal keeper under pressure.

Elisha Muroiwa 5.0 – hardly did much in the opening moments of the game to stop the Senegal blitz and kept making decisive mistakes throughout the game.

Costa Nhamoinesu 5.5 – Recovered after the initial commotion, made some vital clearances in the box and tried to utilise his physic against the might of the Senegalese. Suffered from miscommunication with the midfield. Cleared a Senegalese threat from the line.

Onisimo Bhasera 5.0 – tried to pick up his game later on but failed to make important combinations with the forwards.

Willard Katsande 5.5 – made decisive defensive and midfield mistakes, especially in losing possession that led to the first goal. Failed to break the Senegalese play in the midfield. When needed most, he failed to combine with his defensive and midfield compatriots in important transitions.

Marvelous Nakamba 5.0 – failed to make breaks in his box-to-box role, and failed to create vital chances for the forwards. Also failed to break the Senegalese play in the midfield. He was slow in transitions.

Kuda Mahachi 4.0 – hardly made any impact before being substituted.

Khama Billiart 5.0 – appeared to suffer from a lack of incisive, reliable supply of balls. Blew a couple of close free kicks over the bar and probably should have been a little less anonymous.

Matthew Rusike 3.5 – lacked the grit of a forward before being substituted at half time. Failed to combine with the midfield and fellow forwards and was slow in possession.

Nyasha Mushekwi 4.0 – failed to have an impact upfront. Also suffered from the lack of creativity in the midfield.

Evans Rusike 4.5 – came on for Matthew Rusike at halftime, made a couple of runs which attempted to shift the balance of power, but eventually suffered from the Senegalese resistance.

Tendai Ndoro 4.5 – came on for Kuda Mahachi at half-time, tried to make surges forward with incessant runs. Also tried to cause problems upfront but eventually suffered from the team’s collective troubles.

Cuthbert Malajila 0.0 – He came on for Mushekwi on 83 minutes. Didn’t play long enough to be rated. Although he came close to the goal and made the back pass.
