AFCON 2017: Tunisia fret over pitch in Libreville

So much criticism has been given to the state of the pitch in Libreville were Zimbabwe are set to lock horns with Tunisia in a crucial Group B match up.

The pitch in Libreville was home to group D matches which has been blamed for the injuries of two Egyptian goalkeepers Ahmed El Shenawy and Sherif Ekramy.

Zimbabwe played their first two matches in Franceville, in a stadium considered to be the best out of the four in Gabon.

Tunisia defender Syam Ben Youssef believes the playing surface in Libreville, is so bad that his side will have to change their style when they face Zimbabwe there for their final Group B match.

Just like their Southern Africa opponents, the Carthage Eagles have played both their matches in Franceville.

“Of course (it will affect us) I think we have technical players we like to play,” Ben Youssef told BBC Sport.

“But it’s usual for us to play in Africa on bad pitches so we have to win and not care about the pitch.” he added.

Ghana coach Avram Grant has become one of high profile figures to criticize the state of the pitches saying it is the reason why this Edition of AFCON has cumulated many injuries.
