AFCON 2017: Injuries rock Tunisia ahead of Warriors clash

The Tunisian camp is hoping their goalkeeper will pass a late fitness test to feature against the Warriors in a crucial group B encounter tonight.

Keeper who is also the side’s captain is battling with a knee injury and chances of recovering in time are slim.

In an press conference yesterday, Tunisia coach Henri Kasperczak said the team is not sure if the player will be available.

“Aymen Mathlouthi is hurt, we can’t say 100 percent that he will play against the Zimbabwe.” said Kasperczak.

The team doctor Souheil Chemli, was quoted in Tunisia press saying the team already missing Sliti due to injury may end up having to call upon Mathlouthi’s deputies for duty.

“We will do everything to make him ready on Monday but we must not forget that we have two other big guards. Rami Jeridi was content to do laps today while Moez Ben Cherifia is doing well. The decision on the goalkeeper will be made on Monday. Concerning, Naim Sliti, he has a pain in the hamstrings. We decided to spare it today and it is likely that it will not be ready on Monday.”

Meanwhile Zimbabwe have a fair share of injury problems ahead of the match, Knowledge Musona and midfielder Danny Phiri may also require a late fitness test to make it into the squad.
