Wenger Handed Four Match Ban

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has been handed a four-match touchline ban by the FA following altercations with the fourth official, Anthony Tayler, in the 1-1 draw against Burnley last weekend.

Wenger has been charged with shoving and verbally abusing Taylor and has now been fined £25 000 for the incident, which revolved around the awarding of a Burnley 93rd minute penalty.

Although Wenger later apologized after the match, he could not eventually overturn the decision. Said Wenger after the match: “I should have shut up – I apologize for not having done that.

“It was nothing malicious. I should have kept my control, even if it was in a hectic time.”

Wenger will be in the stands as Arsenal play Southampton at St Mary’s in the FA Cup this evening. The other three matches Wenger will miss are premier league games against Watford, Chelsea, and Hull.

I should have shut up – I apologize for not having done that. It was nothing malicious. I should have kept my control, even if it was in a hectic time.

The suspension is a blow for Gunners, who are chasing an elusive first league title in 13 years, as the Frenchman will be absent from the touchline to steer his team around a tricky round of fixtures.
