The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has announced to members of the Club Licensing decision-making body and called for all Premier Soccer League clubs to be licensed ahead of the 2017 ZPSL league season.

Piraishe Mabhena chairs the club licensing body, while Willard Manyengavana is the Vice chairman. Samkeliso Silengane, Nobioth Magwizi, Dennis Tshuma, and Gilbert Saika are members.

The committee met at the weekend and conducted a productive workshop and came up with a framework for the licensing of Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs in the 2017 season.

All PSL Clubs have been invited to apply to be licensed, of which penalty for failure to meet the basic licensing requirements will lead to sanctions which include fines and possible demotion to a lower league.

According to ZIFA communications manager Xolisani Gwesela, CAPS United and Ngezi Platinum have already met the minimum requirements and were licensed as it was a prerequisite for their participation in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

The ZIFA Club Licensing system has the following objectives:

• Promoting and improving the quality and level of all football aspects in Zimbabwe.

• Ensuring that all clubs have the appropriate infrastructure and knowledge in respect of management and organization.
• Adapting and improving the clubs’ sporting infrastructure.
• Improving the economic and financial capacity of clubs through proper corporate governance and control.
• Ensuring and guaranteeing the continuity of international competitions for clubs during the season.
• Allowing parallel development and comparison among clubs by ensuring necessary compliance in terms of financial, sporting, legal, administrative and infrastructural criteria.
