Match Report: Caps United beat Dynamos in ZNA Charities Semi final

CAPS United got the better of their rivals Dynamos in the first Harare derby of the year with a comfortable 3-1 win to book a place in the final of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) Charities Shield.

A double from Leornad Tsipa and a goal by Denver Mukamba in a 6 minute heist saw the uncertainties of the match increasing in one blink.  Denver Mukamba lobed goalkeeper, Edmore Sibanda, with his right from just outside the area as the latter blundered by coming off the line. Nevertheless, a late goal by Dominic Chungwa was all the premier league defending champions needed to secure the game.

Caps first half-chance of the match arrived in the seventh minute when Simba Nhivi fired from just outside the Dynamos box, but the curling effort found goalkeeper Ashley Reyners equal to the task.

Tsipa opened the scoring in the 25th minute by tapping in a rebound from a delightful free kick by forward Simba Nhivi that came off the cross bar.

Four minutes later, Leornard Tsipa doubled the lead from a header with Nhivi alson providing the cross.

Mukamba had another super chance to send Dynamos level late in the first half but his low strike brought a smart save from Sibanda, who saved from the penalty area.

Caps had a clear shout for a penalty in the 71st minute when Elisha Muroiwa appeared to bring down Chungwa inside the box following a clever piece of skill from Nhivi, but the referee was not interested.

Caps United were always vulnerable on the counter-attack. However, the Green Machine made sure they secured the game in the 84th minute when substitute Dominic Chungwa lobbed Reyners after a defensive blunder.

The defending League Champions will face the winner of the postponed second semi final piting Highlanders and FC Platinum on a date to be advised.
