It’s Work In Progress, Says Mutasa

Dynamos coach, Lloyd Mutasa, has said that the performance of his troops in the 3-1 defeat to rivals CAPS United in the Commander Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA)’s Charity Shield is work in progress.

Speaking after the disappointing elimination from the cup at the National Sports Stadium, Mutasa said he hoped to have corrected the mistakes some of his new look side were making by the time the season begins.

“Obviously any game that you play against CAPS United you would want to win but unfortunately we lost. But we have to look at the bigger picture; this is our third preparatory match and I believe it’s still work in progress and we hope by the time we get to the first of April we would have rectified some of the mistakes that happened today,” he said.

Mutasa said despite failure to progress to the final of the ZNA Charity Shield, he had several positives to pick from the match.

“You look at elements of match fitness [but] some of the guys are getting there [full fitness]. This is the third game and you don’t expect the majority to play the full match but I would like to applaud [the fact] that some of the charges really showed that they are 90% in terms of match fitness.

“There is a little bit of coercion; there is an understanding that is coming up as well, although it’s still early days,” he said.

Dynamos lost several experienced players in this transfer window. Some of the players include Bret Amidu, who has joined FC Platinum, Dominic Mukandi and Godknows Murwira who have joined Ngezi Platinum Stars.

The other players were released on accusations of insubordination and being a bad influence include Roderick Mutuma, who is now at Highlanders, Steven Alimenda and Sydney Linyama who are job hunting, leaving the club with young players.

Mutasa alluded to pressure at the helm of Dynamos with his mostly overhauled side.

“You know building a team is always a process [and] being a Dynamos coach you would want to build a team but at the same time you would like to look at the results but I’m sure with the way the youngsters are coping . . . we will be able to compete this season,” he said.
