Sibanda makes Zimbabwean football history

Former Mighty Warriors players and current Women’s U-20 coach, Sithethelelwe Sibanda, has made history by becoming the first local based female coach to earn the CAF A licence at Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) ceremony yesterday.

Sibanda, who was also the Mighty Warriors assistant coach, was the the only woman who participated in the course which attracted a number of local coaches with 31 being handed certificates.

CAPS United head coach, Lloyd Chitembwe, was also among the graduates.

Presenting their certificates, ZIFA President, Dr. Philip Chiyangwa, challenged local coaches to aim to coach beyond Zimbabwe and use the knowledge they had been equipped with.

“It is our dream to have excelling local coaches working with top clubs abroad.

“I am a disciple of knowledge acquisition and I can assure you that ZIFA will continue to strive to ensure that you and other local coaches stay abreast with other coaches on the continent,” he said.

Chiyangwa also revealed ZIFA’s plans to hold the CAF Pro licence to equip coaches to be able to coach around the world.
