Mutasa Prepares For Chapungu

Dynamos coach, Lloyd Mutasa, says the are looking forward to their friendly match against Chapungu in Gweru on Sunday.

Dynamos have played only one friendly, against Chingale de Tete of Mozambique, while their fierce rivals CAPS United have played several international matches including Ferraviaro da Beira of Mozambique, Red Arrows and Zanaco of Zambia as well as two champions league matches in Lesotho and Harare.

Mutasa has highlighted the need to play catch up on fitness as the premier league beckons.

“We are still preparing for the coming season, so we want to see where we are. We played CAPS United, a big game last time, and will play Chapungu again. We would like to see whether we are progressing in the right direction but with what the youngsters are showing I’m sure we are going in the right direction,” he told Soccer24.

Dynamos lost 3-1 to CAPS United and were knocked out of the Commander Zimbabwe National Army’s (ZNA) Charity Shield on Sunday. Mutasa blamed the result on a poor preseason.

He has said the game with Chapungu is one of the games for the new look Dynamos, who have lost several experienced players, to work on combinations.

“You know, going forward we have to try all combinations and see our variations in terms of formations. This is the time and we would want to try and use it to the best of our abilities.

Meanwhile Mutasa has been handed an performance based contract according to club secretary general Graham Mafoko. According to Mafoko, Mutasa needs to collect 23 points from his first 10 games in charge
