Katsande misses penalty as Chiefs and Pirates draw

Zimbabwean international Willard Katsande missed a potentially match winning penalty as Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates played out a 1-1 draw in the ABSA Premiership this afternoon.

The match involved two other Zimbabwean in Tendai Ndoro (in the second half) and Edmore Chirambadare.

In one of the best derbies in recent years both teams showed determination and tempo throughout the match with Chiefs taking the lead in the 16th minute when Joseph Molangoane scored after a good cross by Bernard Parker

Pirates drew level after Thembinkosi Lorch’s shot was deflected and beat Itumeleng Khune.

With both teams going for the winner in the second half Chiefs had a great chance to win the match when the referee pointed to the spot after Ayanda Gcaba was adjudged to have handled in the box

However Katsande had a poor effort saved by Benson Mhlongo to ensure the points were shared.

Tendai Ndoro started on the bench and was introduced in the 67th minute for Wome and could not make the most of the chances that fell his way.
