ZNA Charities shield defending champions Highlanders are on course to retain the trophy after beating FC Platinum 3-0 in the semi-final to reach the final of the 2017 competition.
Two first half goals from Simon Munawa and Prince Dube and a second half goal by Prince Dube gave the Bulawayo giants the ticket to face Caps United in the final. All goals were assisted by Roderick Mutuma who had a blistering start on debut for Bosso.
Highlanders’ first goal came after just 14 minutes when Simon Munawa beat Mhari in goals after a good pass by Roderick Mutuma.
Prince Dube scored Bosso’s second on the stroke of halftime following a good interchange of passes with Roderick Mutuma. Dube calmly slotted home much to the applause of a maltitude of Bosso fans who packed Luveve Stadium.
Prince Dube completed his brace on the 63rd minute cashing on a Mutuma sublime pass scoring Bosso’s third and dashing as a contest any chance of any FC Platinum come back.
FC Platinum will certainly rue missed chances as they failed to make the most of their superior ball possession count.
With the result, Highlanders will play Caps United who beat Dynamos in the first Semi final played last month – in the final on a date and venue to be advised.
