Zambia beats Senegal 2-0 to lift the U20 AFCON trophy

Hosts Zambia have lifted the 2017 AFCON U20 Championship after beating Senegal in a highly exhilerating match played in a packed Heroes Stadium.

First half goals by Patson Daka and Edward Chilufya was all Zambia need to lift the trophy.

The home side opened the scoring after 16 minutes as Patson Daka slotted home from close range, after Fashion Sakala was initially denied.

Zambia doubled their lead in the 35th minute as Edward Chilufya got his side’s second goal.

Senegal came from the break a stronger side, but the Zambians backed by the maltitude of their fans remained resolute to see off the game.

South Africa’s U20s finished fourth at the after Amajita were beaten 2-1 in the third-place playoff by Guinea.

The four teams will play at U20 World Cup.
