Confederation Cup: Sierra Leone side thrashed in Tunis 9-1 by Rusike’s Club Africain

Sierra Leone’s 2017 CAF Confederation cup participant, Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces FC (RSLAF), are set to bow out of this year’s second tier continental cup competition following a 9-1 humiliating defeat in Tunis by Club Africain on Sunday at the Stade Olympique de Rades in the first leg of their CAF Cup encounter.

The tie was virtually over in the first half, with the home team being clinical in front of goal, scoring four goals. Algerian midfielder, Ibrahim Chenihi, scored a first half hat-trick and Nader Ghandri scored from the spot.

Nader Ghandri completed a double, while Saber Khalifa, Oussema Darragi, Imed Meniaoui and Fakhreddine Jaziri scored the other four goals with Ibrahim Silla scoring the visitors’ sole goal.

This is the worst ever defeat a Sierra Leonean club has suffered in a match in the CAF clubs competition.

Zimbabwean striker, Matthew Rusike, who plies his trade in Tunisia for Club Africain was not part of the squad as he was not registered for the competition.
