Zvirekwi Hails Team Spirit

CAPS United vice captain, Hardlife Zvirekwi, has hailed team spirit as the major driving factor behind Makepekepe’s historic qualification into the mini league of the CAF champions league.

CAPS United ousted five time champions league winners TP Mazembe from the tournament after recording 1-1 and 0-0 stalemates respectively.

“We are so excited; it’s massive, it’s big. And for the team to be where it is right now I think it all goes to the team work and team spirit in the group.

“We have been united for the same cause, ever since we started the season last year, this was one of our goal(s). I think we have achieved the first part but obviously we are still aiming high to go all the way,” Zvirekwi told journalists.

CAPS United, although in a quest for goals, maintained a solid defensive and recovery plan which saw them restricting TP Mazembe’s chances while playing out to a goalless draw.

The fullback played a pivotal role in the historic feat, rallying his defensive counterparts to stay resolute in the face of imminent qualification.

Coach Lloyd Chitembwe conceded to have been defensively oriented in the second leg, admitting to the team exercising caution.

“Defending, well, naturally it’s very good,” Chitembwe said.
