ZIFA to appoint local coach for the Warriors

ZIFA president Philip Chiyangwa has revealed that a caretaker coach will soon by appointed for the Zimbabwe national team.

The Warriors are without a head coach after ZIFA opted not to renew Callisto Pasuwa’s contract following a poor AFCON 2017 campaign.

Speaking on a special edition of ZiFM’s The Platform programme hosted by Mike Madoda Chiyangwa said, ”We are soon going to appoint acting coaches.

”If they prove themselves they can get the job on a permanent basis. It will be a local coach that we are going for.

Chiyangwa also revealed it was not his decision to sack Callisto Pasuwa. “I have an experienced committee that look’s into those issues. I do not fire or hire coaches I get recommendations.

“For me Pasuwa did the best he could do.At the end what happened had to happen after I took recommendations added Chiyangwa.

The Warriors are set to miss out on friendlies in the upcoming international break set for this weekend.
