Amidu in stable condition after road accident

CAPS United midfielder, Abbas Amidu, is in a stable condition after being involved in a road accident near Norton on Tuesday.

The player was travelling from Zvishavane to Harare when a bus he was travelling on veered off the road before overturning about 40 kilometres away from Harare.

The 27-year-old former Kaizer Chiefs player joined CAPS United from United Arab Emirates Division One club, Masafi, in January 2016.

According to sources, Amidu is now recovering and is in a stable condition.

“He was involved in an accident near Norton. He was admitted at a surgery owned by CAPS United board member Dr. [Mordecai] Sachikonye at West Extension yesterday.

“He mainly sustained back injuries. He is now stable at home and he is walking,” the source told Soccer24.

Amidu was the hero of the CAF champions league record breaking qualification at the hands of DRC champions TP Mazembe a fortnight ago when he scored the away goal in Lubumbashi which saw the Green Machine progress to the mini league.

The Castle Lager Premier League kicks off this weekend and the sustained injuries will mean CAPS United will miss their star midfielder when they begin their title defence against recently promoted Shabanie Mine away at Maglas on Saturday.
