A tough assignment, may the better team win – Mutasa

Dynamos coach, Lloyd Mutasa, has said that the premier league home encounter against FC Platinum  this afternoon will be a difficult assignment and that the better team shall win.

The two teams clash in their opening fixture of the 2017 Castle Lager Premier League season at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.

“Every coach would like to come out victorious. You know it’s Dynamos playing FC platinum; it’s going to be a tough assignment but everyone wants to be a winner at the end of the day and we were preparing for that and the better team will end up victorious,” Mutasa told journalists.

“I think we have always been emphasizing that whatever we were doing behind the scenes we were doing it so that probably when the first game we will be ready for the task.

“Obviously you know [it’s] a first game of the season everyone was doing their thing behind the scenes and we wouldn’t want to say [we will win] even if it were Shabanie [Mine] or Bantu [Rovers] – not saying that the teams I have mentioned are weaker teams – but I’m saying maybe you cannot talk much about the teams you have never seen playing but you can only be in a position to talk much after seeing.

“As for [FC] Platinum, we will look for their records; they were one of the best teams [in the] previous season and I think [as] for Dynamos; Dynamos being Dynamos every game is a tough game, every team comes here so motivated to try and beat us and I’m sure we will be up to the task; we are ready, we know what we are going to face, we are going to play against a strong side and I’m sure we have done our part as a team to make things happen come Sunday,” he said.

Dynamos have had a two year league drought and finished fifth last season whereas FC Platinum, who have become a dominant side in the premier league, finished second.

The glamour boys, in their quest to reclaim their former glory, have strengthened the squad after an exodus of several senior players, including Roderick Mutuma, Steven Alimenda, Bret Amidu, Dominic Mukandi, Tatenda Mukuruva and Sydney Linyama in the off season.

The former premier league champions, who have re-emerged as a youthful side, have eased the crisis by signing several key names, including the built Cameroonian striker, Christian Ntouba, and former Trojan Mine forward, Quality Kangazi.

Mutasa said the two players were gelling well with the rest of the team and the fans can expect great things from them.

“I think the young man [Ntouba] has been integrating well and has been accepted by the institution and you look at even our last two encounters we played against Blue Swallows in our midweek match and we played Africa Trust in our weekend matches were he came out tops as well, I think he’s doing well as per his standards.

“Their [Ntouba and Kangazi] input [and] their combinations are coming out good. They appear as if they were here before,” he said.
