CAF President to attend COSAFA Meeting

Madagascar’s newly-elected CAF president Ahmad will attend a COSAFA meeting in Johannesburg on Friday.

The meeting called by ZIFA President who is also COSAFA President Philip Chiyangwa will not have any agenda but gives FA Presidents from the region to meet one of their own.

The COSAFA region led by Chiyangwa led the campaign to dethrone long serving Issa Hayatou in the just ended elections which was successful as Ahmad won 34-20 in elections that took place in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa last month.

The meeting will be attended by all of COSAFA’s 14 Football Association presidents from Angola, Botswana, Comoros Islands, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

“There is no particular agenda for this meeting. It is just for all of COSAFA FA presidents to meet and greet our new CAF president. Most members might have wanted to have a one-on-one meeting with the CAF president but we have decided to bring everyone in the same room to talk to the new president,” said Chiyangwa.

Chiyangwa and Ahmad will co-chair the meeting.
