CAPS United set to tie down sponsors ahead of CAF champions league group stages

Reigning premier league champions, CAPS United, are set to tie down sponsors in the coming weeks ahead of their champions league group stages fixtures, according to club marketing director, Hannah Wright.

United qualified for the CAF champions league mini league for the first time in their history after eliminating five time African champions, TP Mazembe, and will see their budget go up as a result of their extended participation in the tournament.

CAPS United were drawn to face Zamalek,USM ALger,Ahli Tripoli in Group B.

“Yeah we have got a couple [of sponsors]. Obviously it’s still a bit early to name them. We are just waiting to put pen to paper. We have some very exciting partners coming on board in the next couple of weeks [and] we hope to sign our agreements with them,” said Wright.

Wright, however, declined to confirm or deny rumours which are circulating in the media that the premier league champions have sealed a sponsorship deal with giant mobile network service provider Net-One.

“Unfortunately, I’m not at liberty to disclose anything at the moment, we just have to wait and see,” she said.

Nevertheless, CAPS United are wearing Net-One regalia in their pre-match training as a sign of a possible agreement already having been struck between the two parties.

Wright said the club is looking to secure what is best in the prevailing harsh economic conditions.

“Myself, Mr. [Farai] Jere, [and] coach, [Lloyd Chitembwe] have all been working very hard in this economic climate at the moment to bring the best.

“We are looking more for partners more than just sponsors, so we are very happy we have some good sponsors and partners coming on board in the next couple of weeks.

“That will relieve the pressure from Mr. Jere, the president, so we are excited,” she added.
