Caps United to discover Champions League group stage opponents today

CAPS United are set to discover their opponents in the group stages of the Champions League when the draw takes place later today in Egyptian capital Cairo.

CAPS United who knocked out five time African champions TP Mazembe will join 15 other teams in today’s draw.

Caps United chief executive Cuthbert Chitima will represent the Green Machine in Egypt during the draw.

The Green Machine are in pot 4 together with fellow ‘minnows’ Zanaco of Zambia, Ferroviairo of Mozambique and Ethiopian Kedus and will definately face the top guns in Africa.
Pot 1 features the most successful teams in the tournament – Al Ahly and Zamalek of Egypt, defending Champions Sundowns and Tunisian Etoile du Sahel.
Pot 2: Al Hilal (Sudan), Esperance (Tunisia), Casablanca (Morocco) and USM Alger (Algeria)
Pot 3: Al Mereik (Sudan), Cotonsport (Cameroon), AS Vita (DRC) and Al Ahly Tripoli(Libya)
In the group stage, the 16 teams are drawn into four groups of four. Each group is played on a home-and-away round-robin basis. The winners and runners-up of each group advance to the quarter-finals
