We could not bury chances, says Mutasa

Dynamos coach, Lloyd Mutasa, has said his troops could not bury the chances which came their way in their 1-0 premier league defeat to How Mine at the National Sports Stadium on Thursday.

The Glamour Boys blew several clear cut chances which came their way which could have seen the former premier league champions, who are 13th on the league table, move to 12th with a game in hand. How Mine grabbed the opportunity to move 7th on the log table.

“I think first half we were slow in terms of coming up; we didn’t play very well in the first half here and there and we conceded a goal that we thought we could have avoided, and second half we came back a little bit stronger but we still had a few chances which we could not bury and if you cannot score you cannot win. I think it wasn’t our day,” Mutasa told journalists after the match.

However, Mutasa played down the effect of the defeat and said it has no impact on the momentum of Dynamos who have recorded one win, one draw and two losses.

“I think we all know that in a game of football we can go back [in order] to go upfront, it’s a setback but it can push us to go forward,” he said.

Dynamos played How Mine without star players such as captain Ocean Mushure, forwards Denver Mukamba and Masimba Mambare and midfielder, Gift Saunyama, among others due to injury. Mambare was injured in their 1-0 win away at Hwange FC last weekend.

Mutasa said the injuries at the weekend meant that the new players would not get much time to bond before their midweek clash against How Mine.

“Well we registered 30 players, you know, we had a bit of momentum but we had some forced changes because of some injuries. Even when we went to Hwange there (last week), we had the likes of [Masimba] Mambare again who got (sic) injured and it really affects the game plan here and there because we didn’t have much time to regroup and work with the players that we were [with] for this tie,” he said.
