CAPS United not getting carried away, says Kwashi

CAPS United assistant coach, Fungai Kwashi, has said that the premier league champions are excited by thrashing Chapungu United 4-0 but will not be carried away by the result.

CAPS United ran riot against Chapungu at the National Sports Stadium in a match which could have seen the defending champions put seven past the visitors.

“Obviously it gives the confidence to the whole team; getting four goals and giving a good exciting performance. We are grateful but at the same time we remain sober minded and we remain grounded. We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves and get carried away,” Kwashi told journalists in head coach, Lloyd Chitembwe’s place, who did not speak to the media after the match.

CAPS United have recorded two wins and three draws in the five premier league matches they have played and are on nine points with a game in hand. They face former premier league champions Dynamos next.

An Abbas Amidu brace on 25 minutes and 54 minutes led the champions into riot mode before a strike from midfielder, Ronald Chitiyo five minutes later and a subliminal goal from substitute striker, Dominic Chungwa, two minutes from full time put the match beyond Chapungu.

“Great game from Abbas [Amidu]. He scored two today, he scored another one the day before in Ngezi so it’s three goals in two games so that will give you confidence as we go to the champions league you know in the next two weeks in Zamalek.

“I’m happy for him, but we urge him to stay humble as well, stay disciplined and keep working hard, you’ll get more results. We are happy for him, he’s been training hard . . . all year,” Kwashi added.
