We’ll be cautious, Zamalek are a good side – Zvirekwi

New CAPS United captain, Hardlife Zvirekwi, says the team will take a calculated approach when they clash against Zamalek in the group stages of the CAF champions league at the Borg el Arab stadium in Alexandria, Egypt on Friday.

United, who are participating at this level for the first time, will be looking to defy the odds in search for a repeat of the previous round theatrics which saw them knocking out five time African champions TP Mazembe back in March.

“Obviously, our approach is [that] we don’t play the same way we play at home. Obviously we are going to take a very cautious approach, because they are a very good team. They are very good side . . . and also they have got the experience of playing in the champions league. So they know how to approach these kind of games,” Zvirekwi told journalists at the club’s last training session in the Capital.

CAPS United were drawn in Group B together with Zamalek (Egypt), USM Alger (Algeria), Al Ahly and Tripoli (Libya).

United leave this afternoon at 13.40 (GMT +2) and will play their group stages first match first leg against Zamalek on Friday.

The captain said they are hoping to put their best performance in what he calls a ‘big match’ as it bears the Zimbabwean flag in North Africa.

“Obviously it’s a big game for us as CAPS United and for us as a nation, because we are representing Zimbabwe, not only CAPS United, so I think it’s a massive game,” he added.

“. . . I think we are anticipating that we are going to put our best in it in order to get a good result”.
