Prince Dube in fitness race ahead of Dynamos clash

Highlanders striker Prince Dube who suffered a muscle injury during their league match against Chapungu could be available for the epic clash against Dynamos on Sunday at Barbourfields Stadium.

Reports had suggested that the player could be out for five to six weeks. However, the player was spotted by Soccer 24 jogging on the sidelines of Bosso’s training session held at Babourfields yesterday.

Highlanders head coach Erol Akbay admitted Dube was not ruled out of the match just yet.

“It’s a fifty fifty situation. He might be in on Sunday as he also doing some training. We need him but if he is not well we can’t force things,” said  Akbay.

In May last year, the youthful striker was the hero of the day when Highlanders beat Dynamos in a league match for the first time since 2006.

He scored one and set up the other for Bruce Kangwa as Bosso coasted to a 2-0 victory at Rufaro Stadium. Dube has formed a good partnership with former Dynamos striker Rodreck Mutuma, who has assumed the role of provider.

The two combined well to score a goal apiece in Bosso’s 2-1 win over Tsholotsho two weeks ago, while Dube also scored against ZPC Kariba and Bulawayo City with Highlanders winning both matches. His season tally stands at three.
