Chitiyo in high spirits ahead of Zamalek clash tomorrow

CAPS United midfielder, Ronald Chitiyo, is optimistic of their chances when they play Zamalek in a group B mini league CAF Champions League clash away at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria, Egypt tomorrow.

The 24-year-old former Dynamos and Harare City talented midfielder, who played a pivotal role in the first leg draw against TP Mazembe away in Lubumbashi, has expressed their dressing room’s preparedness for the historic encounter.

“So far so good. And the boys are showing signs of readiness ahead of the match,” Chitiyo has told Soccer24.

Although the reigning premier league champions are participating in the African Safari this year for the first time in over 10 years and qualified for the CAF Champions League group stages for the first time in their history, Chitiyo has brushed aside the underdog tag against a well experienced Egyptian side and believes that the team can snatch a surprising away result.

“Obviously as a team we are aiming to win,” he said.

Chitiyo, however, said that playing away in Egypt against an intimidating Zamalek side will be different from playing at home and the boys will take the necessary precautions.

“As a team we must be strong in mentality because playing away is different from playing at home. There may be two or three supporters only behind us, the rest will be supporting the home team.

“As a team we have to defend very well and also watch our concentration for 90 minutes,” said Chitiyo.
