Mapeza speaks on Amidu’s lack of game time

FC Platinum head coach Norman Mapeza has said former Dynamos midfielder Brett Amidu needs to be patient and will soon get his chance to showcase his skills at the platinum miners.

This follows a letter allegedly written by his manager George Deda to the Zvishavane side executive that the young player should be given more game time.

Amidu failed to get adequate game time making cameo appearances from the bench in the games FC Platinum has played so far.

“We brought in new guys to bring about depth in the side and it’s the same issue we have been talking about Brett (Amidu). I don’t know if someone thought Brett will be guaranteed a jersey when he came here but everyone is here to fighting for a jersey,” said Mapeza.

“He needs to understand our philosophy here, he needs to understand the environment here. I am a coach there is a way I want football to be played and he is coming for an environment where the coach wanted him to play in a certain way but he is here to learn,” he added.

Mapeza said he also faced the same predicament when he was a teenager at Darryn T but he eventually graduated into the first team. FC Platinum plays How Mine at Barbourfields Stadium in a Castle Lager premiership fixture on Saturday.
