‘We want to beat Highlanders at Barbourfields, says Mukamba

Dynamos forward, Denver Mukamba, has said that the former premier league champions are looking to collect maximum points when they visit Bosso at Barboufields on Sunday.

The last time the two sides met was in the Uhuru Cup final which ended 1-1 in regulation time before being decided by a penalty shootout which Dynamos won 3-2.

“At Barboufields, yes, we want to beat them. They also want to beat Dynamos but you are going to see the game on Sunday. It’s going to be exciting as a derby.

“The Highlanders game against Dynamos is a big game. It’s not an easy match. We played Highlanders in the Independence Cup and we drew 1-1 and we went for a penalty shootout, but after how we have prepared this week, we want to go to Barboufields and collect all the three points,” Mukamba told Soccer24.

Mukamba said despite riding on the wave of the Uhuru Cup final win, Dynamos will not read much into their latest victory over Highlanders.

“You know, it was the Independence Cup, sometimes a league game and a cup game are different. You know sometimes in cup games, some teams field players who are not regulars trying to work out combinations. So this is a league game, it’s different. It’s all about the points,” he added.

Dynamos’ Harare derby encounter against reigning premier league champions CAPS United was postponed last week, affording the two teams a longer break.

Mukamba said that confidence and player morale are high in the Dynamos dressing room ahead of the battle of Zimbabwe after ending Yadah Stars’ unbeaten run with a 1-0 away a fortnight ago.

“With the Dynamos win in our last game against Yadah Stars, our confidence is high and even in all our following games we are 100% focused.

“It’s a different season this season, I’m working very hard to . . . up my gear. I’m pushing myself, even the coaches, they push me. I’m 100% fit with no injury.

“Where we are on the log, we are not happy. We belong in the number one position because Dynamos are champions. But every team that we play – even in friendly matches from division one to division two – wants to beat Dynamos. They all say we wanted to beat Dynamos, so it’s not easy sometimes. We must brace up. We are preparing as a team, nothing is wrong at the moment. But we now want the goals,” he said.
