Shabanie aiming to hand FC Platinum first league defeat

Shabanie Mine technical manager, Taku Shariwa, says his side will walk away with the  bragging rights when they host town rivals FC Platinum in a Castle Lager premiership encounter at Maglas Stadium on Sunday.

Odds are heavily stacked against the asbestos miners since they have only beaten FC Platinum once in 2013 walking away with a 1-0 win.

The asbestos miners’ situation is compounded by the fact that FC Platinum is yet to lose a match so far this season.

However, Shariwa believes Sunday’s game is a whole different ball game altogether and his charges will come to the party.

“It is all about how we are going to apply ourselves on Sunday which matters because history turns to hold people back. As far as I am concerned this is a different game with new coaches, new players and even match officials and it can be anyone’s game,” said Shariwa.

“We are playing at home and we have the edge. All I can promise our supporters is the three points is for us to take.”

Already, the derby has reached fever pitch in the mining town where the majority of supporters are Chinda Boys faithfuls.

An air of anticipation has already grilled Zvishavane ahead of Sunday’s game.
