Mapeza calls for unity and support

Zimbabwe national team head coach Norman Mapeza has called for the nation to get behind the Warriors when they take on Liberia in an AFCON qualifier on Sunday at the National Sports Stadium.

The Warriors preparations have been overshadowed by Khama Billiat’s call up saga that saw current team manager Wellington Mpandare in the firing line of both Mamelodi Sundowns and Zimbabwean football legend Peter Ndlovu.

“We need to be united, this is football, not politics, “ said Mapeza.

“We need everyone to come and support the team. “We are going to do this for the country and I wish everybody comes and gives the boys maximum support.

“We have to win this game at all costs added Mapeza. Meanwhile, ZIFA has reduced gate charged to $3 and urged fans to come out in their numbers.

A home win will be key for the Warriors as they aim to get off to a good start in a group that also consists of DRC and Congo Brazzaville.
