Edzai Kasinauyo dies

Former Zimbabwean international Edzai Kasinauyo has died. Kasinauyo passed away in South Africa at the Donald Gordon Medical Centre in Johannesburg

When Soccer24 reached the family for comment, the family spokesperson said she couldn’t speak to the media at that time of contact but did confirm Edzai’s death.

Kasinauyo turned out for CAPS United as well as a number of ABSA Premiership sides that include Ajax Cape Town and Moroko  Swallows. He was part of the Warriors squad for the 2006 AFCON.

After hanging his boots Kasinauyo embarked on a career as a player agent and was instrumental in Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat moves to the ABSA Premiership.

Other Zimbabwean internationals Kasinauyo managed include former Warriors skipper Willard Katsande, Tafadzwa Rusike, Evans Rusike.

In addition, he was involved in a numerous sports deal for local clubs including Adidas’ kit deal with Dynamos and Highlanders through his E-Sport sportswear business.

Kasinauyo was elected to the ZIFA board in December 2015 and was handed the role of development by ZIFA president Chiyangwa.

However, in March 2016 Kasinauyo was expelled by ZIFA after being accused of plotting to fix an AFCON qualifier against Swaziland together with Ian Gorowa, Nationa Dube and former ZIFA CEO Henrietta Rushwaya.

Kasinauyo’s ban was later lifted and the charges against on him dropped.

Since then Kasinauyo had returned to managing players including handling Khama Billiat’s ongoing contract negotiations with Mamelodi Sundowns
