Zuze happy with the three points

Dynamos assistant coach, Biggie Zuze, has expressed joy following Dynamos’ 4-3 premier league win over Bulawayo City at the National Sports Stadium in Harare on Sunday.

Goals from defender cum midfielder, Obey Mwerahari, attacker, Denver Mukamba, Cameroonian striker, Christian Ntouba Epoupa, and centre back, Lincoln Zvasiya, handed the former premier league champions a vital fifth consecutive premier league win.

Addressing journalists at a post-match press conference, Zuze, who was left in charge in the absence of head coach, Lloyd Mutasa, who is participating at the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Castle Cup being held in South Africa, said he was pleased by the performance despite a shaky defence which allowed the visitors three goals in their backyard.

“I think we are very happy with the way the guys have handled this match. It was a very good game, well balanced and I think it’s one of the good games this year; a seven goal thriller.

“And I think credit to the guys, they kept on fighting. The only [negative] thing is that we didn’t defend very, very well,” he said.

“You can tell that their first goal was a gift from the keeper, but this type of things happen in football. But I’m happy we carried on, and also I think scoring four goals, creating chances.”

He also said he was generally pleased with his team’s recent form which has seen the players, largely comprising youngsters, improving on character halfway into the season.

“I think it’s a plus on us, we are beginning to see great changes in the team. The character is there, the fighting spirit is there, but I think the mistakes which these youngsters are making, I think we are rectifying them and I think we will keep working with the guys. But today we are happy, we got the three points. I think that is what matters the most.

“. . . you see, we are happy that the guys who are doing the job are now beginning to enjoy their football. And you see, when you are enjoying, the result will just come. But I think credit to the guys, I think they are working so hard to be where they are right now . . . and also I think we have to work on complacency now. We’ll just see where it is and where it is going to end,” he said.

“We are not looking at that (championship) but in football you can never rule anything [out]. You have seen we started off not badly, [like] what other people say, we started off very, very well. I think we were playing better football, but the results were not coming.

“. . . where we are, we know people didn’t think we can be among the top teams one day as the league is progressing. But I think we deserve to be on top, and I think we’ll just maintain our composure.”
