Beating CAPS United a turning point, says Tapera

Yadah FC coach, Jairos Tapera, believes that their victory over defending premier league champions CAPS United will be their turning point in their maiden season in the Castle Lager Premier League.

Yadah recorded their fourth win of the season with a 2-0 home win over United courtesy of goals from captain, Jimmy Dzingai, and forward, Munyaradzi Chiwara, in the 49th and 69th minutes respectively. Since their 1-0 defeat to Dynamos back in May, Yadah’s fortunes took a down turn, registering only one win in nine games.

Speaking to journalists after the match, Tapera said he looks forward to have returned to winning ways with the crucial victory.

“It’s a relief yes, I think this is a turning point for us; and beating the champions of Zimbabwe, it’s something that at the end of the day you can sit down and say, yes, this is where we must start going forward.

“I think you know how football is, sometimes it’s a phase that we go through and I like that the turning point was against CAPS United . . ,” Tapera said.

“It’s a very huge game, it’s a huge win for us and I think going forward, it will shape us, it will give us confidence and it will push us to do even better.”

Yadah are now on position 13 with 16 points from 15 games. Midway through the season, they have won four games, drawn four and lost seven.

“Surely, surely, I think this is an important win for [us]. Even the players did excellently well (sic) [and] the supporters were always there for us.

“. . . looking at how we play, if you witness, every time that we play, we play excellently well (sic), but eventually we lose 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, but today at least after going back (after the break) we fortified our movements in defence. Eventually we sustained all the pressure that the champions threw at us. Fortunately, we got a goal, we got a second and a third, unfortunately, it was not counted,” he said.
