Cosafa Castle Cup preview: Warriors target victory against Madagascar

The 2017 Cosafa Castle Cup Group B action will continue this afternoon with matchday 2 action.

The first match of the day will see Zimbabwe playing against a tricky Madagascar side.

Having won 4-0 against Mozambique in the first round of matches, the Warriors have targeted a victory in order to keep their hopes of making it to the next round of the competition.

Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa assembled a very strong squad led by utility playmaker Ovidy Karuru, with strong support from experienced players such as goalkeeper George Chigova, Ocean Mushure, Eric Chipeta, Teenage Hadebe amongst other players.

Chidzambwa also gave first senior national team call ups to upcoming PSL stars with Division 1 player Blessing Majaira scoring on debut in the last match.

After today’s game, the Warriors will complete their Group B assignments with the final game against Seycheles.

The group winners will progress to the quarterfinal.

Ever since the cup’s inception, the Warriors has claimed four titles and will seek a record 5th title.

Last year, the Warriors fared dismally and could not even get past the group stage.

In the other match, Mozambique will face Seychelles.
