Muroiwa bids Dynamos farewell

Dynamos centre back, Elisha Muroiwa, has bid fare well to the former premier league champions ahead of his move to Tanzanian top-flight league side Singinda United.

The 28-year-old is joining the Tanzanian outfit on a two year deal as his contract with Dynamos comes to an end. Despite his contract with the Glamour Boys officially ending today, the centre back has not participated in Dynamos matches since returning from Tanzania last month where he had gone for pre-season arrangements with his new employers.

Speaking to Soccer24 at Motor Action Sports Club, Muroiwa said he sees the move to Singida United as a real opportunity in the development of his career.

“I think it’s a club that has ambitions and most of the players there are foreign players who are also playing international games [for their countries] like AFCON and I think we have higher chances of winning the Vodacom premier league and also play in the champions league.

“I think it was a good move because I have a new challenge, new people, new coaches, and I think it’s a good place for me as a stepping stone to go forward,” he said.

The Tanzanian top flight league begins in August and according to Muroiwa, Singida United kick start pre-season preparations towards end of July.

Muroiwa is reportedly earmarked for a staggering $6 000-per-month salary at Singida United after reportedly pocketing a whopping $20 000 in signing on fees.

Muroiwa has urged Dynamos fans to remain united and continue working for the good of the team and the club.

“I just want to say to them (players) they should have one purpose of unity [and] whatever they do, they must do it for the team.

“Each and every person has an opportunity to go forward. The club is playing well, so I just wish them the best for the remainder of the season,” he said.

Dynamos forward, Wisdom Mutasa (left) and centre back, Elisha Muroiwa (right), have officially become Singida United players as their contracts with Dynamos officially end today

He thanked the club for affording him the opportunity to be in the spotlight which saw him participating in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Gabon in January this year and featuring in several Warriors matches during the qualifiers.

“I’m so happy for what they have done for me, for my family, and [for] the man I am today, the respect I get out there it’s because of Dynamos. I want to thank them very much, no matter what people say, I will always be blue,” he said.

He also thanked and urged the Dynamos faithful to rally behind the Glamour Boys as they fight to reclaim their glory and retain the title.

“I will urge them to come in their numbers to support the guys, no matter the situation, no matter the result, these guys need their support. We can’t do without them (supporters), we always urge them to come and support the team,” he added.

Muroiwa will be joined at Singida United by fellow Dynamos teammate, Wisdom Mutasa, whose ties with Dembare also officially end today. Mutasa also signed a two-year contract which ends in June 2019.

Dynamos play premier league newcomers, Bantu Rovers, at home at the National Sports Stadium in a mid-evening kick-off match and could register a sixth consecutive victory as they recover from a false start to the 2017 premier league campaign.
