PSL introduces Ecocash services as a payment method to stadiums

The PSL is set to make major technological advancements in mobile ticketing and contact-less payments as they seek to counter recurring cash shortages in the country.

The Premier Soccer League is set to introduce Ecocash as a payment method at football stadia to mitigate against the current cash shortages being experienced in the country.

The cashless system will be introduced on a trial basis during the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter between Chicken Inn and Dynamos on Sunday 09 July 2017 at Barbourfields Stadium to enable fans easy access to the stadium.

The Ecocash service will be available at Gates 4, 6 , 9, 15 and 25. The move comes after the successful introduction of Point of Sale machines as a payment option earlier this season.

The PSL Chief Executive Officer Mr Kennedy Ndebele said: “We have heeded the calls from football fans to adopt cashless payment methods and we are pleased to bring them the convenience of accessing football matches without having to wait in queues to withdraw money.

“The POS system proved to be a success and it is something we are going to continue with as we look for ways to enable easy access to the stadium and improve attendance owing to the current cash shortages.” Kudzai Bare Communications and Media Liaison Officer
