COSAFA: South Africa beat Namibia to lift plate final

South African defeated Namibia 1-0 in the 2017 COSAFA Cup plate final at the Moruleng Stadium in Moruleng on Friday.

As a result, Bafana Bafana and the Brave Warriors finished fifth and sixth respectively in this year’s tournament.

The Brave Warriors were awarded a glorious opportunity to take the lead just four minutes into the game after Roger Katjiteo was fouled in the South Africa box.

Tanzania defeated Lesotho 4-2 on penalties following a goalless draw in the 2017 COSAFA Cup third-place play-off match at the Moruleng Stadium in Moruleng Stadium on Friday.

As a result, the Taifa Stars finished third in the tournament, while the Crocodiles finished fourth.

However, Namibia captain Ronald Ketjijere missed the target from the spot-kick with South Africa goalkeeper Boafela Pule guessing the right way.

Bafana Bafana score came in the 36th minute when Mohau Mokate scored with a deflected shot from outside the box making it 1-0 to South Africa.

Bafana managed to contain the Brave Warriors in the remaining minutes of the game and South Africa held on to claim the narrow win.
