ZIFA entrusts triumphant COSAFA technical team with CHAN 2018 qualifiers

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has announced that coach Sunday Chidzambwa and his entire technical team who guided the Warriors to an emphatic 3-1 win over Zambia in the 2017 COSAFA Cup final in South Africa at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium will take charge of the Warriors CHAN 2018 qualification campaign set to kick off this weekend.

ZIFA posted on their Twitter account:

Chidzambwa will also have Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa and ex-Highlanders gaffer Bongani Mafu as his assistants while renowned fitness trainer Thompson ‘Rubberman’ Matenda will take that role. Manager Wellington Mpandare will continue as the team manager.

The Football Association appointed the technical team in the Spirit if continuity as they seek another qualification. The staff is tasked with the duty to take charge of the local national team for the qualifiers into the CHAN tournament, Kenya 2018.

The Warriors will open its campaign in the qualifiers this weekend on 16th of July when they play away against Namibia at the Sam Nujoma Stadium and the return leg would be in Harare a week later on the 23rd of July at the National Sports Stadium.

The winner of the tie will square off with either Lesotho or Comoros for a place in the finals.
